Ky-Mani Marley, one of the best-known and wealthiest Reggae artists was born on Friday, 26 February 1976 in Falmouth Jamaica. He sang in Shottas with another singer Wyclef. Ky-Mani enlisted Shang Records where he recorded his first album in the year 1996. Like Father Like Son and several singles: Judge Not with Patra and Dear Dad" (which topped the British reggae charts) Who The Cap Fit (remix) and Sensimelia each of which contributed to his growing reputation in the new wave of reggae musicians. Ky-Mani as well as Praswell from the Fugees joined together in 1997 and recorded Avenue, a cover version Eddy Grant's Electric Avenue. Marley was the first artist to perform at Midem, an international concert which was held in Miami. The performance of Marley in the Cameo Theatre was broadcast live to 36 different countries by Caribbean News Agency. Marley's name became the topic of a bid war.
