Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she earned an Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABC's series NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama show All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. She grew up in a family which included four brothers. Although she was a child with a goal of becoming journalist, it wasn't until the time of her high school days when Delaney started modeling. After moving from New York City and gaining experience as a commercial model at New York did she achieve her dream of becoming aspiring court reporters. Her first job acting was as a young girl in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney is an acclaimed actress, appearing featured in a variety of TV movies, and dramas. She has not had a successful or happy personal life. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism in the past and has been through two divorces. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her one son.
